Our Mission & Vision
Since its inception in 2003, The Bolobek Garden Fair (formerly known as the Garden Lovers’ Fair) has grown to become one of the largest and most popular garden fairs in Victoria, hosting over 50 specialist and unique stallholders with over 3,000 people attending annually.
The Mount Macedon & District Horticultural Society began hosting the annual Garden Lovers’ Fair in 2003 within the carpark of the Mount Macedon Golf Club. The Fair quickly outgrew this venue and was moved, in 2013, to the grounds of Bolobek, one of Victoria’s most historically significant gardens. Now known as the “Bolobek Garden Fair,” the event is managed and operated by an independent organising committee passionate about providing opportunities for horticultural and environmentally focused community groups and organisations across the Macedon Ranges.
The Committee remains committed to ensuring that profits from future fairs are reinvested back into the Macedon Ranges community to facilitate the continued delivery of important programs and projects and to support services that benefit residents and the community more broadly.
About Bolobek
Bolobek is a unique working farm at the foot of the Macedon Ranges boasting a rich history, great quality beef and lamb and a glorious garden. Since 2006, the current owners, Brigid, and Hugh Robertson, have invested extraordinary passion and energy into the continuing renovation and rejuvenation of this magnificent property.
Bolobek is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register as “being of aesthetic, architectural, historic and horticultural importance to the State of Victoria." It is of outstanding aesthetic importance for its quality design, artistry, and plantsmanship, the creation of garden spaces and views, and the combination of plant forms, with an emphasis on foliage, white flowers, and bark.
Bolobek is of historic significance as an outstanding example of a modern formal garden style incorporating geometrically shaped compartments, axial paths with terminal features and axial associations with the house and room plan. The garden is important for demonstrating a creative design style as an overlay on an earlier garden layout”.
Over the Bolobek Garden Fair weekend, attendees are welcome to roam the garden at Bolobek between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
